Why It’s Blue

I used to think that hearts were made of paper
Easy to give and shaped a Valentine
I’d wander off, never thought to fear my neighbor
Didn’t have much but I was satisfied
Did the world change or did I?
It’s still that same old sun
It’s still that same old sky
But it looks different now that I know why
Now that I know why it’s blue
I used to think that everything had purpose
Dreams would come true if you just wanted them enough
I’d ride my bike and if I made it past the corner
Felt like Columbus did, stumbling on America
Did the world change or did I?
It’s still that same old sun
It’s still that same old sky
But it looks different now that I know why
Now that I know why it’s blue
Thunder was magic, but now it means rain
And our sadness was tragic but now it’s just part of the day
Never imagined that it’s only rays of light…
Passing through… that’s why it’s blue
Did the world change or did I?
It’s still that same old sun
It’s still that same old sky
But it looks different now that I know why
Now that I know why it’s blue
